Apple Reduces Aperture 3 price in Mac App Store to $79
Apple has launched its Mac App Store and is listing Aperture 3 – it’s professional photo management and editing software – to just $79 (US). You need to update your Mac to OS 10.6.6, which installs the new Mac App application, and purchase online.
When Aperture launched over five years ago it was about $500: Apple has dropped the price progressively, but this sees the price go from $200 to $79.

The Most Popular Postings For 2010
One year ago on December 28th 2009, I sat on my bed and said to myself, “I’m tired of being unemployed and unproductive. And so I started ThePhoblographer.com, and it has taken off in ways that I haven’t even thought were possible for a site started on a Macbook, on my bed, while in my pajamas. It’s been a crazy year and the staff and site have evolved. There are even more changes to come (like us moving to a faster server and a slight redesign and better search bar.) I’m straying off the topic though: here are the top 20 postings of the past year according to WordPress (though our other analytics have different numbers.)

Review: The Apple Magic Trackpad For Photographers
With the Apple Magic Trackpad, finger painting comes to Adobe Photoshop. The Apple Magic Trackpad is an interesting new Apple product that arrived recently with relatively little fanfare. Compared to more press grabbing new toys like the snazzy new iPod Nano or the fascinating iPad, the trackpad flew in under the radar, and it’s too bad, because it’s an innovative and interesting tool for digital photographers, and an affordable one at that. I’ve had one on my desk for a couple weeks and have grown to love it. Read the rest of this entry »
Review: Memorex SlimDrive Portable Hard Disk Drive 500GB
Every now and again, I’m sent random but potentially cool products for review. The 500GB Memorex Slimdriveappeared on my front stoop a couple of weeks ago and I began the testing. After getting through packaging that reminded me of trying to pry an elevator door open with your bare hands combined with examining a man’s prostate, the kit comprised of a simple but elegant hard drive with a very small USB cable.

Will the New Apple iPod Touch Weaken the Point-and-Shoot Market?
Take a look at the way that the majority of people take photos. I’m not talking about the photo enthusiasts. I’m talking about the average person that has a camera and isn’t a total photo nerd. After careful observations, you’ll notice that they take a majority of pictures with their phone. This goes double or triple for iPhone, Android or Blackberry users. The reason for this is because of the instant sharing capabilities. As you know, most point-and-shoots can’t do this. Sure, a standard point-and-shoot can deliver better quality images, but this group of users won’t be able to tell the difference. Apple doesn’t seem to have incorporated any of the features that I asked for a while ago, but the audience of people I’m talking about here just want to point, shoot and share. So does this mean that the new Apple iPod touchwith its snazzy new camera could in turn destroy the point-and-shoot market?
